To all the Ledo families: My sincere condolances in the loss of a great man, and my appologies for this belated sympathy. My parents were Floyd and Molly Schouviller. They were great friends of all the Ledo's for many many years. I was to young to remember going to the farm in Carver, but I remember my mom talking about what great people the Ledo's were. I do know that my mom very much enjoyed and looked forward to all her phone calls with "the girls", especially once I left home to start my own life. Molly passed away in Dec 2000 and Floyd in Jan 2003. One by one they are all being reunited once more. God be with you all.

My sympathy goes out to the Ledo family on the passing of George. I'm not sure if I ever met him but I knew his sister Eleanor when I was growing up because of my father.
My father was Daniel B. Ledo Sr. and his parents were Anthony and Mary Ledo. We are related but I don't remember exactly how.
George is with the rest of the Ledos and with that name, I know he was a good guy.

Uncle George,
When Rayna and I moved in with you over 2 years ago, I wanted to ease your burdens and free you up to rest your weary body. I know how much you missed some of your brothers and sisters, not to mention your Mom, I had hoped to
reconnect with Dad's side of the family, and let Rayna get to know you better. It didn't take long.
We grew to love you more and more,
and the conversations we had about
the past were treasured memories for sure.
A favorite memory was of the very first Confederate Air Force Hangar dance I attended, it was your first time too. You sat across from me while the bagpipes played amazing grace, behind you were some of the old fighter planes, and lightning was lighting up the clouds south of Hastings, and there were searchlights in the Sky over Cottage Grove. The distant thunder
looked and sounded like we were actually back in time during the war. I asked you what you thought of it all, and you said, "it's like I'm right back there again." with a hint of awe in his voice. I looked at Diane sitting next to him and I
had tears in my eyes it was so moving.
Your funeral was one of the most beautiful I have ever attended. The church looked like it had been decorated just for you in red, white and blue. The Honor Guard was also extremely moving and well deserved.
Living at the farm now is so bittersweet...I go into your room and smell you everywhere, even Jake and Rayna have done so, and it is overwhelming how much we all miss you.
Taking care of you was a privilege and I would do it all over again
without hesitation, I learned to love you all over again, and your death is leaving a very large hole in my life, just as Dad's did.
I pray you now know how much you meant to all of us, you were one
of a kind George. I will carry memories of you for the rest of my life, and enjoy every one of them.
With Love,
Cyndi

Uncle George,
You were the BEST example of how to be an Uncle (or in my case, Aunt) to a passle of nieces and nephews. Somehow you never forgot a birthday and Christmas was always special to you. From as far back as I can remember you were like the Pied Piper; all children flocked to you. First your nieces and nephews, then their friends and other cousins, and eventually your grand nieces and nephews who have the exact same memories of your influence in their lives. Everyone seems to hold you in a special place in their heart, something you never truly understood.
I wish you hadn't discounted yourself and your importance to us. In those discussions we had during the dark days when Am was so ill and you spoke for the first time of regrets in your life, of never moving on, marrying, and having your own children, "something of myself to go on" as you saw it, I hope that I was able to make you realize we were as much your children as anyone else's in this world. I remember your astonishment when we held a surprise birthday party for YOU over at Dave & Carol's, you just couldn't believe it. I suspect you were a little uncomfortable being the center of attention because you never sought the limelight, preferring to be quietly in the background. When I told you that this just proved how many people loved you, you couldn't hide the shock in your eyes. I think we all assumed you just KNEW how much we loved you. I apologize if we failed to tell you that directly, and often enough for it to sink into your perception.
I learned so much from you in your quiet, unassuming way. You never tried to hide your weaknesses, yet your strengths showed through all the more. You were generous in so many ways, but best of all in the amount of time & attention you gave us.
"And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make."
God bless you and keep you now, and enjoy the reunion. I'll bet dollars to donuts Bumpy's leading the party on Concertina!
