George J. Leporati, age 89, passed away on September 28, 2022.
When it comes to George Leporati, one might say "They broke the mold". It is impossible to describe him in a few words. George was one in a million, unique, charismatic, different, stood out in the crowd, special and so very loved. George was a good man. He actually wanted to be a priest when he was a young boy. Meeting Dolores changed all that. He was a loving husband. He would sweep her up and dance to the music on the radio while she was trying to make dinner. They would stroll to the ice cream store holding hands. He would make sure the car was warm for her in the winter, open doors for her and never swear around her or the children. George was a playful father. One time he pretended he was a monkey and jumped up on top of the refrigerator making monkey sounds. He brought home Philadelphia pretzels on payday, and never missed a valentine for his wife and girls on Valentine's Day. George was firm in his resolve and stood strong for what he believed in. He was quick acting in a crisis. One time he heard a car hit a young girl. He jumped off the sofa, ran up the street and comforted the young girl who suffered a broken hip. He rode in the ambulance with her and didn't realize until after they arrived at the hospital that he was in his boxers. Nothing would stop him from helping someone in need. He was a printer and volunteered at church by printing the church bulletin for years. George loved to have fun. He could keep a room full of friends or strangers entertained with his funny stories. He owned a cabin cruiser and took his girls out swimming in the Delaware then enjoyed lunch at the Yacht club. He owned race horses and stood with his family in the winner's circle many times. He loved to dance and sing and actually had a very good voice. He loved life, living and good times with his friends from Pat's Pub. He loved and cared for his family deeply. He would never interfere and wanted them to be happy and live a good life. He had a strong faith that he struggled with after losing his infant daughter. Then just a week or two ago, he met with a priest for confession. He was so happy to know he was accepted in his church. George always felt he was misunderstood. He just had so much love in his heart he didn't realize that most people live their entire life without the love he had in his heart for others. Nothing asked of him was ever too much. He served his purpose in life without a second thought. He was so loved and will be so missed. The day before he journeyed on from this life, he said he was ready to go to the Lord if he will take him. We believe he was met by family and friends and is up in Heaven dancing with Dolores again.
