100 E. Travis Street

Diane A. Evering-Simms & Lincoln A. Simms
Yesterday
George was a dear friend and beloved neighbor to us for many years. In his honor and in remembrance of his kindness, humor and wit, we offer this poem: -
Outdoor Type
He would saunter across the lawn
To greet us in that Southern drawl of his, soon after our arrival
Examining our fresh growth of grass and weeds spawned
Sprouting in our absence with great revival
The kindest, most grateful man we have ever identified
Never a moment of strife
We lived as beloved neighbors for over eighteen years, verified
Defying the odds of the Northeastern Texas life
He confessed his love of dogs, his gifts, and rides on his zero-turn mower
And it was well demonstrated each week
Especially when he sought to get outdoors and pursue cover
Which he would often seek
We found him soaking wet outdoors one day
He was just sitting in the sun
The concealed reason he did not want to say
Nevertheless, he was having fun
He cooked his own home prepared meals in pots and pans
Maintained the pool and did financial consulting
Always ready to lend his cherished family and others a helping hand
To say he was lethargic would be insulting
