GEORGE (JERRY) GERALD MCGUINNESS
November 23, 1928 ~ October 15, 2025
Jerry McGuinness, 96, beloved husband and father went to be with the Lord October 15, 2025. He was the eldest of two sons born to George and Hazel McGuinness. He was raised by his Father and his Aunt after his Mother died when he was 5. Much of his youth he was an Altar Boy in the church. He also grew up as a boy scout, finally an Eagle Scout when he was 18. He loved baseball and told his family about the many times he went to Fenway Park to see the Boston Red Sox play.
He was studious and hardworking, and for a time he was going to be a Catholic Priest. He actually began that process, but after a few months of seeking, he realized it was not what the Lord had for him. He returned home, and became a typesetter for the Taunton Daily Gazette. Then met our Mother Dorothy Bartel, falling head over heels in love. Theirs has been a beautiful love story now for over 75 years. Dad was always very religious, serving in every church he would attend throughout the years. A man with a servant's heart, he gave his time, his money, and his devotion to the Lord as a Godly man in the Christian Community.
But he also gave his time and energy to his family. Each of us has years of memories of his goodness and kindness shown to each of our individual families. We all learned from him the greatest gifts, of Love, of Service, and of Faithfulness which he expressed beautifully. Daddy at 96 was a kind, gentle man. He wanted to go see Jesus. Having had a wonderful life he was ready to go home. We will hold him in our hearts until the day when we are finally all reunited again, at last.
He is survived by his precious wife Dotti, and his four daughters, Paula Schmidt, Patti Spuhler, Chrissy Cook, and Alyssa Connor. He was Grandpa to 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 10th at 12:30 pm, viewing will be 11:30-12:30 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. 1101 NE 112th Ave., Vancouver, WA.
In Lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to City Harvest Church
8100 NW 9th Avenue Vancouver, WA 98665 Mission Ministries.
I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
