George Morgan, age 82, departed this life on Saturday, August 17, 2024, leaving a legacy of love and dedication. Born on February 22, 1942, in Weatherford, Texas, he was the son of J.W. and Dorothy (Sharp) Morgan. In his youth, George answered the call of duty, proudly serving in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. His commitment to service was only rivaled by his passion for life, particularly in his work as a master automotive mechanic, where he crafted a reputation for excellence.
George's greatest joys stemmed from his deep love for his family and his time spent fishing, a pastime that brought him peace and happiness. He will be remembered fondly for his warm spirit and the laughter he shared with those around him.
Though George was preceded in death by his beloved parents and two sons, Michael C. and George R. Morgan, he is survived by his wife, Janice E. Morgan, and his loving children, Stephen L. Birchfield, Amanda M. Morgan, Lacy Jo Morgan, and Holly F. Morgan. The love he fostered extends to his thirteen grandchildren, Alicia, Tanya, Heather, Koty, Jakob, Kaitlyn, Chloe, Kiarra, William, George, Iris, River, and Marshall; and his fifteen great-grandchildren, all of whom carry a piece of his heart.
Additionally, George leaves behind his siblings, Viola L. Powell, Leda F. Holder, James A. Morgan, Tommy W. Morgan, Walter Morgan, Rosetta Yoder, Geneva G. Gill, and Archie L. Morgan, along with numerous nieces and nephews who will forever hold his memory dear.
In honor of George's life, family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation on August 23, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, in Weatherford, Texas.
A funeral ceremony will take place the following day, Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., also at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. A private committal service with military honors will be held at a later date.
As we celebrate George’s life, may we treasure the memories and love he imparted to all of us.
