George Willard Nichols of Clarksville passed away Friday, December 27, 2024, at his home. George was born February 22, 1944, in Altha, Florida to Henry and Grady Lou Nichols and was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the United States Army and later was employed as a factory worker assembling washing machines for many years. He was a long-time member of Poplar Head Baptist Church and gave his life to the lord and baptized in 1958. He was always there to help in his community any way he could with community events, fundraisers and the fire department. He was a family man and fisherman and loved spending time with his family any chance he had. He also had a passion for repairing motorcycles and would be considered a professional piddler.
Other than his parents he is also preceded in death by his brothers, Glenn and Broward Nichols and his sisters, Louise Jordan, Hazel Swearingen and Linda Menefee.
Survivors include his sons, William Nichols, Keith Nichols and Corey Nichols; his daughters, Amanda Hager and Tammy Nichols; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Services to honor George’s life will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Poplar Head Baptist Church with a time of visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Poplar Head Cemetery with military honors.
