George M. Olson, age 103, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at his home.
He was born on March 15, 1921 in Brill, Wisconsin, to Harold and Julia (Kinn) Olson.
He graduated from Bloomer High School in 1939 and honorably served his country in the Army Air Corps during WWII. On September 20, 1952, George married Eileen C. Owens in Withee, WI. George’s dad, in partnership with George and his brother, Vic, purchased the Olson Motor Clinic stone building in 1944. George continued to go to work every day until age 91, when he retired. George enjoyed spending time with his family, especially summer camping trips in the family camper. He grew up in a musical family and he shared the love of music with his children. He was a dedicated church member, teaching Sunday School and singing in the church choir as well as the New Auburn Community Choir, where people enjoyed and appreciated his bass voice.
George is survived by his children: Judith (Jonathan) Bayba of Wausau WI, Robert (Pamela) Olson of Bloomer, Susan (Steven) Wall of Bloomer and David (Wendy) Olson of Sioux Falls SD; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Eileen Olson in 2020; sisters: Evelyn Olson and Josephine Clumpner; brother: Harold “Vic” Olson; grandson: Joseph Wall; and great-granddaughter: Haven Olson.
Please come and join us for the home-going celebration of one of Bloomer’s oldest residents at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Bloomer Cemetery with military graveside honors performed by the Bloomer American Legion and VFW.
