George Edward Overbey Jr

Mr. George Edward Overbey Jr. age 81, of Murray, Kentucky, died Friday, January 29, 2016 at the Murray Calloway County Hospital. Mr. Overbey was born October 12, 1934 in Murray, Kentucky, to the late George Edward Overbey Sr. and Reba Mae Key Overbey. He was a retired attorney. Ed was appointed chairman of the Public Service Commission, and served under Governors Wilkinson, and Jones. Ed was law partners with his father, and brother, at Overbey, Overbey and Overbey. Ed ended his career in Frankfort as an Administrative Law Judge with the Cabinet for Families and Children with offices in Frankfort, and Murray. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church, past member of the optimist club, and was very instrumental in the Murray baseball association. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Donald Overbey, grand pets, K-D, Apollo, Brutus Randall Shane, and Murnish and Leo VonGoodness. Survivors include his wife, Jackie Overbey of Murray, Kentucky, they married September, 22, 1962 in Lexington, Kentucky, daughter, Kellie Overbey Shane and husband Joe; son, Dr. David Winston Overbey; brother, Bob Overbey and wife Judy of Calvert City, Kentucky.
