Lea & Simmons Funeral HomeGeorge Alan Parks, 77 of Brownsville, TN passed away on September 20, 2025, surrounded by family. George was born on June 26, 1948, in Brownsville, TN to Dora Elena Sullivan Parks and Robert Humphreys Parks. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 4, 2025, in the Chapel of the New Hope Christian Church located at 3300 Kirby-Whitten Pkwy., Bartlett, TN 38135 at 12:00 PM. There will be a memorial visitation from 11:00 AM until the service time at 12:00.
George grew up in Brownsville, TN and graduated from Memphis State University. He was an officer in the Air Force and flew T-37's & T-38's and T'41's. George was an accomplished singer/songwriter and played with many well-known musicians throughout his musical career. In the early 70's he was a staff writer with Stax Records. George was the president of ACI Environmental Associates, Inc., from 1988-2022.
George is survived by his wife, Candace (Candy) Parks, his son, Arick Parks (Shelley) Grandchildren - Madelyn Parks, Macy Parks, Brody Parks, Mia Parks and Collin Davis (Lindsay). Great Grandchildren - Romilly Parks and Charlotte Davis. His brother Robert S. Parks (Sue) and numerous cousins. Best friends, Dr. Sonny Gentry and Frank Anthamatten, Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dora Elena Sullivan Parks and Robert Humphreys Parks and sister, Pamela L Parks. Best friends, Larry Rains and Jim Grooms.
In Lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Stax Music Academy or St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
