George Paul Obituary

If you were lucky enough to know George Lee Paul, 80, you knew what gentle strength looked like and what unconditional love felt like.
George was born on a small family farm in DeWitt, New York, a place that shaped every fiber of who he was. His childhood was filled with horses, cows, hay baling, and freedom.
While serving in Boston, George met Deanna, the love of his life. For 54 years, they were inseparable. George spent his life making sure she was happy.
Together, they raised three daughters, Pamela Paul-Coloton, Amy Sproule, and Rebecca Guiles, and if you ask them, they'll tell you that calling him a "good dad" doesn't come close. George wasn't just their father; he was their compass, their calm, and their constant. He saw his girls not for what they did, but simply for who they were and loved them fully, without condition.
George always showed up. Whether it was for his beloved job in Educational Communications at Upstate University or volunteering with NAVAC, he gave his time and his heart to anyone who needed him.
George passed peacefully on October 15th, with his girls and family by his side. We like to think he was greeted in heaven by Deanna, his one true love.
He is survived by his daughters, Pamela (Ronald Coloton) Paul-Coloton, Amy (Duncan) Sproule, and Rebecca (Jason) Guiles; his sister and best friend, Nancy Robertson; his niece, Stacey Surowick Reynolds, whose Friday adventures with "Uncle George" brought him such joy; his pug (Beanie); 6 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Jim Paul.
Calling hours will be from 4:00 to 6:00pm on Tuesday, October 28 at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St, Fayetteville. A funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home. Burial will be at 11:00am on Wednesday, October 29 at Fayetteville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to NAVAC Ambulance, 603 N Main St, North Syracuse, NY 13212.
