George A. Race, 79, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at Syracuse Home at McHarrie Place. George was born in Malone, NY to the late Arnold and Florence (Poole) Race and graduated from the Franklin Academy in Malone in June of 1964. He went on to receive his Associate's Degree in Air Conditioning Technology from SUNY Canton and served in the United States Navy as part of the MCB 62 Seabees. He spent much of his career self employed in the HVAC industry, owning and operating GA Race & Associates, Inc.

In addition to his parents, George is predeceased by his sister, Julia Frey.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Marilyn (Bouvier) Race; his children, Stephen (Colleen) Race and Kristen (Deron) Glickert; his grandchildren, Sophia, Zackery (Isabelle), Geoffrey, Kyra, and Brynn; his twin brother, Gerald (Patty) Race; along with several in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.

George was known for his amazing servant's heart. He not only served his country, but also his community, his church, his family and countless others. He was known for dropping anything to go help any family or friend who needed a hand, no matter how small or large. He was a member of the Moyers Corners Fire Department for over 40 years, serving on several committees, and used his leadership skills in the roles of Lieutenant, Captain, Battalion Chief, and Assistant Chief.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Syracuse Home Association for their unwavering care and compassion during George's last several years where he felt truly comfortable and loved every day.

Visitation will take place at North Central Church, 7463 Buckley Rd., on Saturday, December 6, 2025 from 10:00 – 11:45 A.M. immediately followed by a funeral service in celebration of George's life at 12:00 P.M. (noon) in the church. Entombment with Military Honors will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Moyers Corners Fire Department, 7697 Morgan Rd. Liverpool, NY 13090.
