George Scott Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Foust Funeral Home on Jan. 5, 2026.
George Ernest Scott, the son of George E. Sr and Norma (Larson) Scott, was born on June 3, 1951. He was raised and educated in Eagle Grove, graduating with the "Class of 1969".

George was united in marriage to Nancy Wyllie in 1992, they later divorced.

George worked many jobs including Boone Valley, Lambert-Hamlin Construction, Pella Corporation, Electrolux, and Meridith Corp. He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church.

George was an avid outdoorsman, from the time he was a child, learning from his dad the art of running a trap line, fishing, hunting and raising his beloved black labs. George was also a big sports fan, especially Iowa Hawkeye Football, he attended many games. Other hobbies include bowling and listening to rock and roll music. He spent hours weekly, recording music and sharing with his friends.

George loved kids too, even though he didn't have any of his own. He was very fond of his nieces and nephew, and proud to tell of their accomplishments. He also coached little league baseball.

George had many friends and loved to talk for hours about sports, music, American History and his Native American heritage. He was a walking encyclopedia on the topics of government, politics and world wars. Having learned from his father, a WW2 veteran, 101st airborne soldier, the first-hand details of Normandy, Market Garden and Bastogne. A true patriot, George had always thought about joining the military, and while few people know this, he had enlisted in the army in 1983 at the age of 32 and was due in a few months to report to Basic Training. Unfortunately, this day would never come. On October 31st 1983, George had a terrible accident at his construction job, falling 25 feet from the scaffolding onto a concrete slab. He was life-flighted to Des Moines and spent months healing from broken bones. Despite these hardships, George went on to make a complete recovery and worked the rest of his adult life until retirement.

George was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in November of 2024, and fought bravely and cheerfully, to his final days. A special thanks for the care and compassion from the staff at St. Croix Hospice and Rotary Senior living and to his niece Kelly for being by his side.

George passed away on Saturday, January 3rd, at Rotary Senior Living, Eagle Grove, at the age of 74 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Ellen Campisi.

Survivors include his nephew, Kevin Campisi; nieces: Kristen Campisi and Kelly Box; great nieces and nephews: Hailey Box, Donovan Box and K.J. Campisi; and many dear friends.
