Dear Lorraine and Family,

So deeply sorry to learn that George passed away. We can always remember how good of an individual he was, a very honorable gentleman.

PAFIS (Peoria Area Friends of International Students) at Bradley University will always be thinking of him and his generosity as well as his family.

When the good Lord calls our loved ones to be with Him in heaven, he leaves us a gift of everlasting memories so that we can keep him in our prayers. He is now enjoying the beauty of the garden in heaven and living a peaceful life with our Creator. We are here for you, Lorraine.

May the soul of George rest in peace. Amen.
Love and prayers, Ric and Laura Corpuz

George lived next to our family on Mary St in the 1950's. I believe that is when he first moved to Peoria. He certainly did the family name proud. Thoughts and prayers to the Shadid Family.

I was a cub reporter covering Chicago City Hall in the 1970s when I met George after serving in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War and then being reassigned to the Peoria Air National Guard in 1975 through 1982. Mr. Shadid was a role model to many and as someone interested in the history of Arab Americans and Lebanese Americans I was able to interview him years ago. RIP. So sorry to hear about the passing of a giant in Illinois politics.
