George “Billy” W. Shifflette of Palmyra, Virginia passed away peacefully on Monday June 23, 2025, at the age of 80, surrounded by his loving family.
Born December 1, 1944, in Albemarle County, Virginia to George H. and Beatrice Shifflette. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Billy graduated from Albemarle High School and immediately enlisted in the United States Marine Corp.
Billy is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Joy. He is also survived by his two beloved daughters, Vikki Towsey (John) and Jenni Via (Brandon), six Grandchildren; TJ (Makayla), Allie, Devin, Braelyn, Cam, and Chase, five Great Grandchildren; Kennedy, Juliette, Harper, Mylie, and eagerly awaited Cohen (his 1st great grandson), sister; Cathy (Doug) and brother; Danny of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Billy loved his family fiercely.
The family offers special thanks to the care team from Hospice of the Piedmont Center for Acute Hospice Care and many thanks to family and friends for the outpouring of prayers and support.
