George Simpson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lind Funeral Home, Inc. from Dec. 12 to Dec. 13, 2025.
George Steven "Steve" Simpson, 74, of Falconer, NY, passed away, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. He was born in Warren, PA, on August 10, 1951, the son of the late George S. and Florence Jader Simpson.
During his time at Jamestown High School, Steve pursued technical training in auto body repair through BOCES. Following graduation, he served six years in the National Guard. After many years in the auto body industry, he joined the Jamestown Fire Department and gained on-the-job expertise as a certified EMT. He will be remembered with deep respect for his lifelong dedication to the Jamestown Fire Department and his service to the Union, where he proudly served as a past president.
Steve was known for his trademark smirk that could brighten any room. He had a sharp wit and a gift for debate, often challenging others with his keen sense of logic and language. While his spirited arguments sometimes tested the patience of city hall representatives and family alike, his accuracy and conviction were admired.
Steve's intellect and craftsmanship shone through in every repair he touched. With a dealership license in hand, he became renowned for his ability to rebuild and rewire vehicles with remarkable precision, breathing new life into even the most damaged auto body projects. His talents extended far beyond cars - whether it was small engine repair, lawn tractor restoration, or any mechanical challenge, Steve had the rare gift of fixing just about anything. His skill was uniquely his own, solving problems straight from his head without manuals or guides, guided only by instinct and experience.
Above all, Steve was a devoted husband and father. His forgiveness and humility allowed him to let go of life's small grievances, always more concerned with whether he had done enough for those he loved. Family was his greatest priority. He coached his children's sports teams, ensured every Christmas was magical, and shared a humor that, once appreciated, was unforgettable-sometimes dark, but always genuine. Generous to a fault, Steve was always ready to give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.
A man of faith, Steve was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher and volunteered at the food pantry for several years, serving his community with compassion.
Steve's loving soul will be deeply missed by his children, Steven (Heather) Simpson, Timothy (Audra) Simpson, Tarrin (Tim) Nocero, and Vicki (Peter) Larsen; his grandchildren, Hannah (Benjamin) Perkinson, Emma Simpson, Makayla Simpson, Jaden Simpson, Richard McVeigh, Skylar (Sergio) Fonseca, Maxwell Nocero, Wesley Nocero, as well as Ben, Tyler, and Ray Lynn; and his expected great-grandson, Abel Jorge Fonseca, due in January. He is also survived by his siblings, Gary Simpson, Brenda Ewing, and Cindy McVeigh; his sister-in-law, Judy Sheehan; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lorene Lou Philbrick Simpson, whom he married on December 1, 1972.
The memorial service for Steve will be at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Falconer, NY. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 4-7pm Monday, December 15, 2025, at Lind Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 20 N Phetteplace Street, Falconer, NY 14733.
