George Harold Spears, a beloved design engineer and cherished family man, passed away unexpectedly on November 8, 2025. Born on January 17, 1959, in Bamburgh, Germany, George's life was marked by a blend of personal passion and professional dedication, leaving a profound impact on those fortunate enough to know him.

George graduated from Fairmont East High School, Class of 1977, setting the stage for a career he would embrace with unwavering enthusiasm. For his entire professional life, he worked as a design engineer, showcasing not only his technical prowess but also his vibrant personality, which illuminated the lives of his colleagues and friends.

A proud veteran, George served in the United States Army, exemplifying commitment and dedication to his country, values he carried into all aspects of his life. He was known for his outgoing nature, his love for conversation, and his ability to connect with people. As ‘the cool uncle,’ he created treasured memories with younger generations, always the one to spark joy and laughter during family gatherings.

George’s interests extended beyond his professional life; he cherished the moments spent camping and boating with his loving wife, Mary, and their family. He was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes football team, proudly cheering them on with friends and family, fostering bonds through shared experiences and love for the game.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Mary, who enjoyed a beautiful partnership marked by love and mutual respect. George is also survived by his siblings, Jim (Suzanne) Spears, Mike (Holly) Spears, and Diane (Steve) Colvin, who, along with countless friends, will carry his memory forward. His best friend, John Coles, and close friends, Kenny Moshos, Stewart Jones and Dale Cherry will deeply feel his loss, as will many others whose lives were touched by his big-hearted personality.

George was predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Helga Spears, his sister Anne Johnson, and his niece, Sasha Garvin. Their memories live on in the stories and love shared among those who knew George.

George leaves behind a legacy of love and joy, and he will be dearly missed by all who were privileged to know him. His spirit will forever remain in the hearts of his loved ones and friends, a testament to a life well-lived and a soul beautifully shared.
