George E. Spencer III

Twiggy was the boat boy at our summer resort on Lake George back in the early seventies. I was 11 my brother was 9, I think he came back for a second season. Always had a smile always had a kind word helped us learn to water ski how to operate a boat, generally just a great guy. I placed a Facebook Memorial in his memory on 9/11/19. I'm sorry for your loss... he definitely made an impression no question about that

I was a colleague of George's brother, Geoff, on September 11, 2001. I recall vividly the confusion and heartache of this period and will continue to honor every year the memory of George. My prayers remain with his brother and the entire Spencer family.

My father, Jack S. Krohmer was a good friend of Twig's father. I broke my arm twice, of course on week ends and so Dr. Spencer would meet us at the hospital to put me in a cast. He brought Twig along each time to keep me company. My father died in July of 2001 so he did not have to witness the attacks. I think of Twig every time I see a picture of the Twin Towers and my heart breaks again.

God bless your soul; you are in my thoughts this 15th anniversary of your passing. My hope is we can meet in the after life.

I grew up with Twig in East Cleveland Ohio. We lived a street apart. Although I lost touch with him after jr high I still remember him very well. He was a great guy as a kid and a lot of fun. from reading all these tributes to his memory it sounds like that side of him carried through with him to adulthood. It truly is a shame that people like him died that day basically for no reason other than being an American. Very hard for me to grasp and saddens me he lost his life just days after his 50th birthday.

You are missed!

One of the nicest, most down to earth person I ever worked with. I always reminisce the funny times we shared at Tullett. Truly missed. Always in my prayers. Miss you George.

I was a friend when we were young and our parents had a great time keeping us busy. Think of him all of the time. Twig was such a great nickname. Jean and George and my folks had a fun time in Ohio. Love to his family. I will not forget him.

I knew Twig in Los Angeles where we had a little gourmet dinner group. I met him because his parents were friends of my parents. I regret that I didn't stay in contact with him subsequently over the years. He was a delight.

You are one of the most kindest person I've ever worked with. I cherish every hysterical office event we shared together as great coworkers and whenever I see a pink color tie, I think of you. Lol! We had great laughs together.

So sorry for your loss. We will not forget. Hugs.

The world is dimmer without George in it. He was an honorable man: honest, fair, maintaining a high level of integrity in every thing he did or said. It was a privilege to know him through work. May God bless George, Cathy, Ted and Lisa. Resequat in pacem.

Hello, my name is Laura Bratton from Lubbock, Texas. I had visited the Twin Towers on several occassions prior to 9/11 and, like many across the country, I was deeply touched by this disaster. On Oct 19, I visited the 9/11 Memorial. I took my 9 year old nephew and I wanted him to understand what it meant. We photographed the name of George E. Spencer because it had a flower on it on that day. Upon getting home, we read about George and I learned he and I shared the same birthday. Words cannot express the sorry I feel for your loss. Dear Spencer family,

You don't know me. I am Arthur Shearin, a voice and choir professor at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas.

Our university observed 9-11 in part by decorating each of the 3,000 seats in our university chapel auditorium with the names of each of the victims. The scene was featured in a full-page front page of our local newspaper. Interestingly, the name of George E. Spencer III appears exactly in the middle of the photo.

I had the good fortune to meet Twig on several occassions and have known his brother and family for nearly 20 years. He had qualities rare in today's world and an infectious good spirit that runs in the family. My family remains deeply saddened for the Spencer family's and other families loss. Love to you all. I have the privelege of sewing a quilt block with his name on it, in Mr. Spencer's memory, for the United in Memory Quilt that will begin touring the country this fall in New York.



I hope the quilt will bring some small measure of comfort to the loved ones that have lost so much.

Thirty years ago, my family met George while vacationing in Lake George, New York. His kindness and sense of humor remain a vivid memory. Even though we lost touch over these many years, the joy George brought to those long-ago summers will never be forgotten.

I met George during my job search in the spring of 2001. Despite our not having met before, he was very cordial to me, took me to lunch at South Street Seaport and gave me a number of possible leads to follow up. Later, I ran into him walking up Wall Street and he greeted me very warmly. In August I heard about his new job at Euro and called to wish him well. I was hoping to make another lunch date but fate intervened before it happened. I'll never forget how his good cheer and encouragement helped me during my job search. Clearly a very special guy who made a difference in the lives of people around him. He is deinitely missed - a great loss.

Though I haven't had contact with George or his brother Geoff since pre-high school/high school years...we were all grads of U.S. in Cleveland. I hurt for George's family and especially for his wonderful parents. Dr. Spencer operated on both my knees and put a finger back together as a result of high school sports injuries. I have always been fond of "Doc Spenc" and I am so very sad about the loss of Twig. May God be with him always!

Mr. Spencer, you gave me the courage to chase my dreams. You once said the only person that can keep you from attaining your dreams is yourself. It is through lessons such as these that you taught me to embrace life and always follow your heart.

I worked with George @ Tullett, I was the computer guy. He would always lift your sprit with his smile. If I was having a bad day all he had to say was "Frankie how you doing" and smile. The boys on the credit desk miss you to. We still wear pink shirts on Friday for you. MISS YOU PAL!!!

Dude, you know how I and my family feel about you. You and I often marvelled about the great experiences we've shared together. How lucky I was to have met you on a cold call in London 19 years ago. Your love and appreciation of the whole British experience and your including us in it enhanced our stay in the UK immeasurably. Your move back to the US just kinda rounded out the package. I particularly will miss your love of the outdoors and your willingness to participate in absolutely anything and everything, any time, any place. Your boundless enthusiasm, energy, and humor will be sorely missed by all those who knew you. Those qualities are what drew us to you....made us love you. I'm sure we'll cross paths again. We'll have some tales to tell. Love you, bud.

I met George when he came to Boston to head up the A G Lanston office from London. We kept in touch as his career took him to NYC with Lanston, to Tullet, and Euro Brokers. Very enjoyable person, fun, witty, and a good dad and husband. I was very sad to hear from friends in Boston that George was on the WTC list. My condolences to his wife and children.

The Penninton Family rememberw Twig as a true friend and wonderful husband and father. He painted our daughters guest room pink for us when she was born. A sweetheart of a man. We will miss him dearly.
