George Spencer Obituary
December 17, 1951 - January 27, 2026
On Tuesday, January 27, 2026, George William "Rocky" Spencer of Hickory, North Carolina, went to meet his Savior.
Born December 17, 1951, he was the son of the late George Washington and Helen Lutz Spencer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn Kay Blevins.
Rocky never met a stranger. He retired from HSM and enjoyed spending time outdoors, playing golf, fishing, helping others, gardening, and spending time with his family. He cherished his family and was a good husband and father. Rocky loved his church family and especially his life group.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 47 years, Jean Winters Spencer; their son, Jeff Spencer; a sister, Alice Faye Keen; and a number of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by special friends and neighbors of 46 years, Tim and Debbie Bolick.
The Celebration of Life service will be at Christ Church Fairgrove at 2p.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Memorials can be made to the Christ Church Fairgrove student ministry program. Please mail checks to 2416 Zion Church Road, Hickory, NC 28602, and specify "Memorial for Rocky Spencer," or donate online at app.easytithe.com (general budget for Fairgrove, a portion of which will go to student ministry).

Just cannot believe Rocky is no longer with us. One thing for certain, he has left us with so many memories from our days at HS Converting, playing many rounds of golf together, visiting numerous suppliers. Our most memorable day together was in Dalton, Ga on 9/11. Rocky was a special person, one you will never forget! May he rest in peace.

I worked with Rocky at HSM. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. He always took time to listen to my inventory questions and worked hard to make sure any problems were corrected. Prayers for comfort for his family.
