George Stevens Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Serenity Meadows Memorial Park Funeral Home & Crematory - Riverview on Feb. 27, 2026.
George Russell Stevens, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, veteran, and friend, passed away on February 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

He was the beloved husband of Sherry Silnutzer Stevens, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage built on devotion, partnership, and unwavering commitment.

He was the proud father of five children: Trisha Carter and her husband Jeff Carter; Wendy Stevens and her husband Steve Martin; Jennifer Olson; Charles Stevens; and Benjamin Stevens. He worked tirelessly throughout his life to support and provide for his family, making countless sacrifices without hesitation or complaint.

He was a cherished grandfather to Adam Martin; McKenzie Carter Williams and her husband Austin Williams, and their children Owen and Lila Williams; Zachary Carter and his wife Julianna Carter, and their children John and Olivia Carter; Peyton Carter; Liam Olson; Sylvia (Ace) Olson; and Cedar Stevens. Nothing brought him greater pride than watching his family grow across generations, and he considered them his greatest legacy.

A proud veteran of the United States Navy, he served his country honorably during the Vietnam War. His patriotism was evident throughout his life, and he carried his love of country with pride.

He embodied the perfect blend of scientific curiosity and practical skill. Gifted with both analytical thinking and hands-on ability, he could fix nearly anything. If something was broken, he would find a solution. You never had to guess what he was thinking because he spoke his mind honestly and directly-a trait that earned him both respect and trust.

His interests were wide-ranging. He enjoyed fishing, boating, music, coming up with unusual projects and spending time around the local karaoke scene with his wife.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Elizabeth Stevens of Pembroke, NH.

His legacy lives on in the family he built, the lessons he taught, and the example he set- of hard work, loyalty, honesty, and an enduring, quiet love.

In lieu of flowers, honor his life by telling your family and friends that you love them.
