George Michael Stonovich, 85 of Bridgeport passed away Monday, March 4, 2024, at the Belmont Manor in St. Clairsville. He was born May 31, 1938, the son of the late George and Mary Ann Nastanovich but later changed his name to Stonovich.

Immediately after high school, he enlisted in the US Air Force where he served his country for 4 years before settling down in Bridgeport. In 1960, he met the love of his life, best friend, and mother of his children, the late, Joann (Lusky) Stonovich. They were married in 1961 and were married for 52 years. His entire life was dedicated to family and friends. He loved to throw parties and hold family events. Christmas was his favorite time of the year, and the Stonovich Christmas's will go down in history as the most cherished and fun-filled holidays of all time. George was a sign painter, a trade that he learned from his father. He painted signs for many Bridgeport and surrounding businesses under the name Stonovich Sign Service. George also worked at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel in Yorkville in the annealing department until his retirement. George enjoyed following Bridgeport, Ohio state and Steelers football. He was a member of the Bridgeport American Legion Where he served on the Honor Guard, and the Benwood American Legion.
