George Donald "Don" Tanner, 86, of Hartford, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2026 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born May 17, 1940 in Livia, Kentucky to the late Jake M. Tanner and Clorene Proctor Tanner. Don retired from Alcoa Aluminum. He was a 33rd degree Mason, a Shriner and enjoyed artwork and gardening. Don loved spending time with his friends at Doolin's Grocery.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mike Tanner; daughter-in-law, Mary Jill McLevaine; granddaughter, Taran Michelle McLevaine; and a sister, Brenda Kaelin.

He is survived by a son, Jim Bob (Elizabeth) Tanner; four grandchildren, Taylor Collignon (Paul), Jacob Tanner (Jessica), Brittany Laster, and Matthew Laster; five great-grandchildren, Brayden Dominick, Anna Tanner, Riley Mauzy, Morgan Mauzy, and Ian Collignon; sister, Elizabeth Ann Creager; brother, Marshall Tanner; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. There will be no service. Private burial will follow at Green Brier Church Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Shriners Children's Medical Center, 110 Conn Terrace, Lexington, KY 40508.
