George William Washburn

George William Washburn, 70, of Saylorsburg, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at home.
He was the loving husband of Kathy A. (James) Washburn. They celebrated 35 wonderful years of marriage together.
Born on April 1, 1955, in Allentown, PA, he was the son of the late George Washburn Sr. and the late Margaret (Suter) Washburn.
George was a mechanic for the Jersey Central Power & Light for 32 years, and in 2022, he began working as a heavy equipment operator. He was a true jack-of-all-trades and the definition of a handyman. George was also an avid hot rod car enthusiast. Most of all, he was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. George will be deeply missed by all his friends and family.
In addition to his wife, Kathy, he is survived by his son, Matt James and his wife Marissa; three brothers, Robert Washburn and his wife Diane, Roger Washburn and his wife Marci, Gary Sandt and his wife Donna; two sisters, Georgine Washburn, Mary Berhel and her husband Carl; five grandchildren, and his nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Doug Washburn and Fred Washburn, and a foster sister, Carol Gee.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209, Brodheadsville. A sharing of words and remembrances will follow at 2:30 PM. Cremation will take place in H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.
