George Whalley Obituary

George J. Whalley, 93, passed away peacefully, Sunday, November 9, 2025 at his home.

He was born at home in Cambridge, MA, February 6, 1932, the son of George and Blanche (Bousquet) Whalley.

George grew up in Arlington, MA and graduated from Arlington High School in 1950. He went to work for Local #4 as a hoisting engineer, working days while attending Boston University nights. During his professional career he worked for the Easter Seals Society in Boston and as personnel director for the Museum of Science in Boston.

In 1968, the family moved to Bow, NH and George went to work as personnel director for Public Service Company of New Hampshire. In 1995, he retired to Gilford.

George's family had camps on Lake Massasecum where he found his love of boating and the NH lakes. Snowmobiling and downhill skiing were his passion in the winter and he was proud to tell people that he held one of the first season pass issued at Pat's Peak in 1964.

George was a Thursday regular at the Tilton Market Basket, where he made friends with all the staff.

He was most proud of his family for all of their business endeavors including HK Powersports, which he was involved with since its inception in 1975.

Family members include his sons Steven (Shirley Clark) Whalley, David (Laura) Whalley, James (Jennifer) Whalley, daughter Linda (Curt) Niven, daughter-in-law Purr Whalley, sister-in-law Diane; 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. I first met George at a PSNH job fair in Manchester in 1974. He ended up recommending I be hired in July of that year. Thank you George! A very nice down to earth gentleman.
