George W. Widdows, 95, of Chambersburg, PA, and formerly of Mercersburg, PA, died May 30, 2025 at his residence.
Born September 23, 1929 in Cumberland, MD he was a son of the late Claude L. and Ina E. (Schlack) Widdows.
George was a graduate of Scotland School for Veterans' Children, Scotland, PA.
He was a former employee of Letterkenny Army Depot, Borough of Mercersburg, and retired from Mercersburg Printing.
George enjoyed watching sports on TV and followed Pittsburgh teams. He enjoyed reading John Grisham novels.
George was a member of the former VFW Post 6241 of Mercersburg, Marine Corps League and Moose Lodge both of Chambersburg.
Surviving family include his son, William L. Widdows of Mercersburg, two grandchildren, Todd (Kelley) Widdows of Taylor, SC, and Michele (Robert) Monninger of Mercersburg. Seven great grandchildren, Addison, Samantha, Kaitlyn, Emma, and Molly Widdows, Zack (Allison) Monninger and David Monninger. A great great granddaughter, Aurora Monninger.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Helen (Hawbaker) Widdows, who died May 4, 2021 and a daughter in law, Beverly Widdows, who died March 19, 2021.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM June 17, 2025 in Greencastle Church of God with Pastor Dan Allen officiating. Memorial visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.
