Hey George....The first time we met was at my son's school and that was the beginning of many blessings to come. Thank you for your many kindness to several family members, our times with the Karen who introduced us and your generosity when you met my mom. Not a day goes by without thoughts of you, your warmth and beautiful soul. I pray that you are enjoying your time with our friends who have passed on. I will always love you....my forever candle

I read that he said that he would not be remembered, and that it was a good thing. I have bad news for him. He will be remembered!

I went to see him in concert in Minneapolis when I was in college in the early 90's. His music helped me through many long study nights and meant something really special to me. He truley will be remembered and his music enjoyed always. December is my favorite and I am listening to him play right now and it brings me such comfort and makes my mind feel at peace. May George be playing for all the angels right now.

The news about George’s passing was devastating to me and, no doubt, to every other heartbroken fan and friend of this wonderful man and musician.

So many songs that brought a smile to my face, a tear to my eye, joy to my heart, and peace to my soul.

Longing / Love, Rain, Before Barbed Wire, Thanksgiving, Colors / Dance, Fragrant Fields, and Where Are You Now among my long, long list of favorites.

Thank you, George, for the honor and privilege of watching and listening to you perform on two occasions at the Firehouse Center for the Arts in Newburyport, MA.

Memories that will last for the remainder of my time in this life and those that follow.

The man was the gatekeeper of my peace for decades,...I saw him in Madison Wisconsin on my birthday,...I was so excited,...He had a feel that no one else I've heard has,...The world is a darker place without his light to guide us,...Love you George

Years ago when a college student, I was listening George Winston while doing homework at the kitchen table with my back to the window. I thought I heard rain coming down, so turned to look out the window. It was sunny. Was puzzled at first. Then realized the music made me think of rain. I checked the cassette to figure out which song I was listening to and it was RAIN. That's when I realized that George was brilliant. He had captured the sound of the rain. So sad to hear of his passing. So happy he left his music. So blessed to have seen him in concert.

I have many of his albums and without a doubt, he is my favorite pianist. He was amazing with what I would call his abstract style and interpretations, using all of the piano for his emotional and powerful presentations. Thanks for sharing your talent and beautiful music creations. Peace Be With You George and may God Bless You.

Our thoughts go out to your family. What a talented person that my son and I had the honor of seeing in person. My 8th grade son played "Thanksgiving" at his recital yesterday. I hope that his legacy and inspiration gives some peace to his family and friends.

When I began my journey with breast cancer receiving chemo therapy; I would listen to George Winston music during every treatment. I did not know he was also battling cancer at the time. Last fall I made a trip to Franklin Tennessee and attended his concert to celebrate the ending of my treatment. His music has been such a healing support for me and continues to do so. George Winston was such a gifted musician and composer. I will truly miss him.

My sympathy and condolences to family, friends and all those who appreciate the contributions of George Winston. Every December finds me putting on his music to set and project the tone of my feelings of love and gratitude. I experienced a concert he performed at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. His music drew and commanded our attention to where we heard the last vibration emitted from his piano. Not a sound from the audience for what seemed like a minute until the resounding applause broke out. May his memory and music live on

George was amazing, first saw him during
college in Boulder, CO. Unbelievably rich and intense sounds - his music transports you to a special wonderfully indulgent place. I grin to recall a moment, during his fall concert (back in the early eighties), on the CU campus, when he stopped playing in the middle of a song to insist that everyone stop coughing (because he was so distracted) ....no more background coughing noises from the audience it worked! RIP to a passionate and gifted man!

I saw George in concert at Memorial Hall in Dayton, Ohio back in the 90's. What an amazing concert! I already had all of his albums and he played all my personal favorites - in his sock feet. His music is like nothing else and he will always be in a category by himself. Rest in peace, George, the world is a better place because you were here.
