George Yanok, of Westerville, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 28, 2025, with his wife, Emma, by his side. He will be remembered as a devoted father and a wonderful husband, whose quiet strength, steadfast dedication, and deep love shaped the lives of all who were fortunate to know him.
Born in Canton, Ohio, George was the youngest of three children, the cherished "baby" of the family. He left Canton to attend Case Western Reserve University, where he studied philosophy, an inquisitive and pragmatic mind from the very beginning. During those years, he joined the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity and forged friendships that lasted a lifetime. He left college and lived out his professional aspirations as a sales manager for industrial wire and cable.
George found contentment in life's simple pleasures: time with his family, a round of golf, cheering on the Buckeyes, getting lost in a good book, or listening to the sweep of a classical symphony. He carried a genuine sense of adventure, traveling with enthusiasm until the very end. He loved stepping into unfamiliar places, absorbing their history, and seeing the landmarks he had read about. At home, he was an exceptional cook, preparing traditional holiday meals that honored his Central European roots.
George is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Emma; his children, Andi Linley and her husband, Mike, and Emily Oruclar and her husband, Adrian; and his grandchildren, Eli, Evie, Colette, and Calum.
He will be remembered for his stubbornness, his protective nature, and the quiet but unmistakable ways he showed his love. His calming presence, sage wisdom, and steady strength will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A private remembrance gathering will be held in July. Family and friends are invited to bring their stories, laughter, and cherished memories in honor of the man he was and the life he lived.
May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love of family: past, present, and forever.
