George Yell Obituary

George A. Yell, age 87, passed away on November 1, 2025, at SUNY Upstate Medical Center.

George was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, to the late George and Alice Fortier Yell. On September 4, 1961, he was united in marriage to the former Judith E Cambell, at St. Peter's Church in Rome; a blessed union of nearly 60 years until her passing on January 26, 2021. George retired in 1994 after a long career working as an engineer at GE.

George enjoyed the outdoors, flying model airplanes, doing yardwork, or just relaxing and spending time on the lake. He had a creative side to him as well and express that through wood carving.

George is survived by his two daughters, Victoria (Donn Bertone) Capraro of Manlius, NY, and Cathy (Randy) Cook of Whitesboro; his son, George (Sharon) Yell Jr. of Buffalo, NY; his grandchildren, Abigail, Noelle, Andrew, and Emily; and his sister, Janet (Howard) McCluskey. He was predeceased by his sister, Betty Fortin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 7, at 11 AM, at St. Peter's Church. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the church from 10 AM to 11 AM prior to the mass on Friday.
