George LeRoy Young
1958 ~ 2026
George Leroy Young, 67, passed away surrounded by family, on January 7, 2026 leaving behind a lifetime of memories, laughter and a family who will deeply miss him.
Born on October 31, 1958, in
Price, Utah, to Francis Young and Beth Tolbert. George lost his father when he was only 11 years old. In helping care for Francis during his illness, George developed a deep compassion and resilience that became defining qualities of his character.
George loved exploring- from summers in Orangeville to picking pineapples in Hawaii to buying his first car, a white GTO, and later serving a full-time mission in the California Arcadia Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He credited these experiences with shaping the devotion to hard work that defined him. His work with Marriott and Delta Airlines allowed his family to travel and make cherished memories across the country, but Utah was always home-where he found joy outdoors, driving his beloved Jeeps, hunting in the mountains with his brothers, or even doing yard work.
George will be remembered for many things, his work ethic, his selfless attitude, the way he loved creating memories with his family, but perhaps the most memorable, is the way he always showed up and served the people around him, whether he knew them or not, and especially the people he loved.
He was always looking for ways to serve others and led by example. Despite having multiple health challenges throughout his life, George never made excuses and never let his obstacles define him. No matter what-he always put one foot in front of the other and never left a job unfinished.
George's love language was acts of service and dad jokes. There's nothing he wouldn't do for ones he loved but the surest way to know you'd earned a place in his heart was if he playfully joked with you.
George's life was a testimony of his faith in his Heavenly Father and his love for his Savior. He not only believed the teachings of the gospel, he lived them.
George deeply loved his parents, siblings, children, grandchildren and dear friends, but above all, he loved his wife, Jan. Sealed for eternity in the Jordan River Temple 43 years ago, their love remains unbroken. George cherished Jan and spent his life devoted to her happiness.
George is survived by the love of his life, Janalynn McLelland Young, their children Nate (Heather), Jake (Makenna), Sara (David), Kara (Matt), Dylan, Sydney, Kailani (Hadland), Zach (Cassidy), Ari (Austin) and Keenan as well as his 17 grandchildren. His mother-in-law Renee. His siblings and sibling's in-law Dennie(Susan), Lynette (Dennis), Randy (Susan), Annette, Margo (Elwin), Debbie (Ron), Bruce, Francene (Ken), Shayne (Kriss), Karen (Bruce), Jackie (Ron), John (Ruthanne), Jeri (Newell), Jeana (Peter)
George was preceded in death by his parents Francis, Beth, John 'Poppy Jack', and Garth as well as his brother Howard.
