Yesterday

I am so sorry to hear of George´s passing. He was the epitome of an Italian gentleman. He was honest, humble, loyal, and a family man. They say "a man´s worth can be measured by how he parents his children". If that is the case, George was more than worth his weight in gold. If you have spent any time with his sons, you will understand my comments. Like me, they are truly blessed to have had a loving and caring father who was committed to family, education and lifelong learning. My heart goes out to them, because I understand how much this loss means.

To his sons, his wife Marlene, and family, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I met George in his office down "the Valley" over 30 years ago. At the time, I had a small startup Audio and Video contracting company. He saved me from defaulting on a contract to deliver a number of GE Projectors to Monmouth University. All he knew about me was that I was Italian, from Belleville and a Mechanical Engineer. Even though I was Rutgers Engineer and not an alumni of NCE/NJIT (), his company Rangertone Research extended me close to $100,000.00 in credit. This was done on my word and a handshake. I was able to complete that contract and paid him back in full. That was the start of a life-long friendship.

When I ran for Belleville´s Council, George supported and counselled me through 5 elections. We would spend time talking about A/V, music, business, our Italian Heritage, politics and family. No subject was off limits. Both our fathers had been long time public servants. He had some great stories and lessons about Newark politics in the late 50´s, 60´s and 70´s. He always had time to talk and gave me his full attention. I always appreciated his insights.

George came into my life about the same time I lost my own father. They say you can never fill that void, but you can fill the time with family and friends. In many ways, my time with George filled some of the void that my father left behind. I will be forever in his debt and miss him more than words can express.

We love you, George. God Bless you! May you rest in peace!
