Georgette Kernell Bruenner, 75, passed away February 14. Born in 1950, Georgette grew up in Port Washington, Long Island, the second of six children of Mary and Joseph Kernell.
She graduated salutatorian of the Class of 1972 at Alfred University and earned her Masters in Human Genetics from Sarah Lawrence College in 2007.
Georgette married the love of her life, Eric Bruenner, in 1972 and is survived by him and their sons, David (Kate) and Eric (Jamie), and their grandchildren: Charlotte, James, and Ben.
Georgette had an interesting and diverse career including positions at the Boston Stock Exchange, and the New York Advertising Agency Wells, Rich, Greene, where she was the account executive for Alka-Seltzer. After raising her children, Georgette wrote for the Port Washington News. She later earned her masters degree and practiced as a genetic counselor at Brooklyn Hospital and Northwell Health.
A funeral service will be held at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church at 9 Carlton Ave, Port Washington, NY on Saturday, February 28 at 11am.
