"I look in the mirror, but I don't see me.
Just the shell of what I used to be.
I miss the old me; I sometimes so want her back.
But I have to adjust to the me that's here; I know that's a fact.
Oh, but it's hard and such a slow process.
I have to handle this ordeal with a lot of finesse.
I know that this is just another test.
Pride and vanity are such great sins.
If one is not careful, they can be lost there within
I look in the mirror, but I don't see me.
If you are asking, "Oh, how can this be?"
The me that I saw before has changed in so many ways.
I had spent so much time in a daze.
I was on autopilot, merely trying to survive.
I had forgotten to celebrate and rejoice that I was alive.
I forgot to appreciate how hard I fought.
All that I overcame is a lot.
The trials and tribulations were treacherous and deep.
There are so many things of which I will never speak.
I look in the mirror, but I don't see me.
And maybe, just maybe, that's the way it's supposed to be.
For you see, when you overcome a battle, you could have easily lost.
Like a ship on the ocean that the sea has tossed
Like the lump of coal that becomes a flawless diamond
Like a painter's masterpiece, they have spent a lot of time on
Like the grain of sand in the oyster that transforms into a beautiful pearl
There is no way I could undergo such an endeavor and remain the same girl.
I look into the mirror, but I don't see me.
I see a woman who has an absolutely amazing and blessed destiny.
And that is quite alright by me."
