Georgia Elder Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home on Feb. 16, 2026.
Georgia L. Elder passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on February 16, 2026.

She was born on January 11, 1946, in Tell City, to John and Anna (Hauser) Frieler.

Georgia retired from the Perry County Child Support Department. She had previously worked alongside her husband in Coast-to-Coast hardware businesses and P.N. Hirsch. She dedicated much of her life to both her work and her family, forming lasting friendships along the way.

An avid reader, Georgia also enjoyed playing golf with friends at Hoosier Heights Country Club. She especially reveled in achieving a hole-in-one on the 7th hole - a memory she cherished and proudly shared.

Georgia treasured traveling, particularly trips with her sisters and their spouses. She and her husband, Joe, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with dear friends Donna and Tony Collignon on an unforgettable Alaskan cruise. She also loved exploring England, France, and Italy, as well as visiting Acapulco to see the famed cliff divers.

Georgia is survived by her loving husband, Joe Elder; her daughters, Joni Elder (Jessie) and Amy Mohler; her sisters, Tootie Schrieber and Kathy Wininger (Dave); and her three grandchildren, Erica Dilk (Adam), Nick Mohler, and Andrea Mohler.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Joan Patterson.

A private funeral Mass will be held at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the River's Edge Animal Shelter.
