Georgia Nell Washington was born on March 8, 1940, in Prescott, Arkansas, to the union of Willie Ed Washington and Alice McCoy Washington. She peacefully passed from this life on November 25, 2025, at the beautiful age of 85.
Georgia was a proud 1958 graduate of Bell High School in Gurdon. She later pursued her passion for helping others and completed the Manual Arts Community Practical Nursing Program in 1973. From 1986, she worked for the Arkansas State Department of Human Services, Division of Developmental Disability Services, serving faithfully at the Human Development Center for many years. Between 1988 and 1991, she also served as a dedicated nurse’s aide. Following her retirement, she continued giving back to the community as a volunteer foster grandparent for 17 years.
A devoted member of Gennesaret Missionary Baptist Church in Arkadelphia, Georgia loved the Lord and lived a life of service. In her spare time, she enjoyed listening to gospel music, blues soul music, and watching basketball. Her greatest hobbies included reading the Bible and spending countless hours working puzzle books, a pastime she dearly loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Ed and Alice Washington; her son, Dillard Davis II; four brothers; and three sisters.
George leaves to cherish her memory five children: Rommie Moss of Texarkana, AR, Joyce Hardimon and her husband, Johnnie, of Texarkana, AR, Debbie Payne of Arkadelphia, Kevin Payne of Hot Springs, and Ramona Walker and her husband, Douglas, of Fayetteville, AR. She leaves 19 grandchildren, 22great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, one brother, Billy Washington of Little Rock, Arkansas, and one sister, Elizabeth Washington of Los Angeles, California; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
