Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, May 31, 2024 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church for Georgie B. Lewis, 91, who passed away on May 22, 2024 at her residence.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Cecilia on Friday from 7:30 am to 10:45 am.
A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 am on Friday.
Father Greg Cormier will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Kinzli Zenon and Epiphane Girard. Gift bearers will be Kohen Carmouche.
Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery.
Georgia Batiste Lewis, AKA "Mom," was born in Henderson, Louisiana, to Aloise and Homer Batiste. Well-known and respected by the community, Mom was a cafeteria manager for Teche Elementary for over 30-plus years; retired, she continued her love for cooking and baking with Green's Piggly Wiggly for her plate lunches and famous, delicious, sweet dough pies.
Mom leaves behind two children, Patsy J. Zenon and Ernest Lewis; Grandchildren, Tina Lewis, Kirk Zenon, Kristie Zenon, Sedonia Lewis and Sasha Lewis; Great Grandchildren, Keenan Lewis, Dreylan Duffy, Breonie Duffy, Khydun Journet, Kynlee Journet, Kayman Zenon, Kinzli Zenon, Epiphane Girard, Jurnee Girard, Landon Girard, and Lundyn Girard; and her Great-Great Grandchildren, Kohen Carmouche, Kali Rose Lewis, Ahni Thibodeaux, and Karter Marie Duffy
Mom was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Lewis, and siblings Robert Batiste, Audrey Batiste, Ernest Batiste, and Rogers Batiste.
Pallbearers will be Kirk Zenon, Keenan Lewis, Dreylan Duffy, Landon Girard, Khydun Journet and Kayman Zenon.
Honorary pallbearer will be Peter Girard.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice of Acadiana.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
