Gerald Arnold Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Holley-Gamble Funeral Home, Inc. - Clinton on Feb. 25, 2026.
Gerald C. Arnold Jr., a devoted father, brother, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026, just weeks shy of his 73rd birthday.

Gerald dedicated a significant chapter of his life to his country, serving with honor in the United States Navy for 20 years. His commitment to duty and his stories from the sea remained a source of pride throughout his life. Upon retiring from the Navy, Gerald found his greatest peace on the water, where he was known as an avid fisherman who was happiest with a rod in his hand and a quiet horizon ahead.

Gerald was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Gerald Arnold and Verline Reynolds Arnold, and his daughter, Shelia Arnold. We take comfort in knowing they are reunited.

His memory and spirit live on through his children, Maryanne Best, Priscilla Hardy, and Gerald Arnold III. He is also survived by his siblings, who will miss his presence dearly, His brother, Clifford Arnold, and wife Christine, his sister, Kathern French, and husband David, and his sister, Joyce Colleen Dixon.

"The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope."

Gerald will be remembered for his steadfast nature, his service to his nation, and his love for the simple joys of life. Fair winds and following seas, Gerald. You have reached the final shore.

The family will have a Celebration of Life service held at a later date. Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements. Holleygamble.com
