Gerald Zachary "Zach" Bastyr, age 19 of Cannon Falls, died as a result of a motorcycle accident on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester surrounded by family and friends. Zach was born on September 24, 1991 in St. Paul, the son of Annette Ellsworth. He graduated from Cannon Falls High School in 2010. He attended Dakota County Technical College and graduated with a Welder's Certificate in 2011. He worked as a welder for Lonsdale Construction Company. Zach was an outgoing person; he loved to hang out with his friends. He and his buddies loved going boggin'. He loved everything about cars and trucks and could often be found taking them apart and then putting them back together. He enjoyed demolition derbies and lived by the motto "work hard and play harder". He was a gift that will be missed by all of his family and friends. In the short time he was with us he lived, laughed and loved. He is survived by his mom, Annette Ellsworth of Cannon Falls; step-dad Stan Wilhite of Cannon Falls; sisters, Danyelle (Chad Fleming) Bastyr and Jessica (Justin Nelson) Bastyr both of Cannon Falls; grandmother, Marie Ellsworth of Prior Lake; grandfather, Gerald F. Bastyr of Jordon; father, Gerald P. Basyr and many other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Marlene Bastyr and grandfather, Howard Ellsworth.
