Gerald Lee "Jerry" Bender

Gerald Lee "Jerry" Bender, 78, of Litchfield, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Insight Hospital and Medical Center in Coldwater. He was born on October 31, 1947, in Jackson, MI, to Russell LaVerne and Blanche Luella (Signor) Bender. Jerry married Joyce (Daniels) on May 4, 1968, and she survives.
Jerry graduated from Litchfield High School in 1967. He was drafted into the United States Army immediately after high school and served over seas. Jerry and his wife owned Carlisle Custom Boot for many years and he later retired from the Coldwater Shoppers Guide, where he worked in the sales department. He was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and found joy in serving others and held multiple positions of leadership. Jerry loved animals, beekeeping, farming, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Joyce, Jerry is survived by his daughter, Gyla (Michael) Bender-Brown of Quincy; special daughter, Shelia (Todd) Daniels of South Rockwood; daughter-in-law, Rae Bender of Litchfield; brother-in-law, Robert Flemming; grandchild, Remington Bender-Brown; and special grandson, Brandon Calhoun.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Vance Bender; his sister, Betty Flemming; and his brother, Wayne Bender.
Funeral services for Gerald Lee "Jerry" Bender will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Eagle Funeral Home – George White Chapel in Litchfield, with Bishop Todd Mack officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. A memorial luncheon will be served after the graveside service at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 425 Parkwood Dr., Jonesville, MI.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or the Greater Hillsdale County Humane Society.
