Gerald Joseph Braker, 91, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital. He was born November 30, 1933 in Evansville to the late Mary (Coomes) and August Braker.
Gerald graduated from Memorial High School and earned an associate degree in electronics from Ivy Tech. He worked at Whirlpool as a tool and gauge inspector before he retired. Gerald was an active member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church and enjoyed volunteering with the St. Vincent DePaul Society at his parish. He also enjoyed helping out at St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry. Gerald was a skilled carpenter and a devoted fan of Notre Dame Football.
He is survived by his wife, Cleo (Adams) Braker; children, Randy (Priscilla) Braker, Cathy Folz, Cindy (Ron) McLaughlin, Daniel Braker and Constance (Steve) Jennings; 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Nancy (Larry) Hayden; brother, Jim (Charlene) Braker; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Frederick R. Folz; and brothers, Ronald Braker and Robert Braker.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 2, 2025 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville. Visitation will continue from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Friday, October 3, 2025 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2301 N. Stockwell Rd., Evansville. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the church with Father Zach Etienne officiating.
Entombment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2301 N. Stockwell Rd., Evansville, IN 47715 or St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry, 809 N. Lafayette Ave., Evansville, IN 47711.
