Gerald W. Burkes

Gerald W. Burks was born March 15, 1946 in Nashville, Tennessee to the union of Oddie Mae and Jerry Watkins. Gerald departed this earthly life on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. Gerald accepted Christ in her life at an early age. She was currently a member of Mt. Paran Primitive Baptist Church under the leadership of Elder Freeman Geter.

Gerald was educated in the Metro Public Schools. She was employed by Creative Minds Learning Academy as a daycare teacher. Gerald married the love of her life Lee Roy Burks on July 27,1987, he preceded her in death.

Gerald enjoyed shopping, sewing, baking and having fun with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed. 

She leaves to cherish her memories: Her children James Watkins, Tunita Watkins and Amando (Lashandra) Watkins. 9 Grandkids, 21 great grandkids. Brothers: Richard (Marie) Watkins, Jerry (Mary) Watkins. Sisters: Josephine Coltrane, Beatrice Fayne, Linda Watkins and Sharon Watkins. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Devoted friends: Barbara Chrismon, Sheryl Batey and Jane Fitzgerald. In laws: Katie and Willie Mae Jackson, Willie Burks and Billy and Patrice Burks. A host of great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews and great great great nieces and nephews.
