Gerald Howard Church, 86, of Parkersburg, passed away Monday, June 23, 2025 at Belmont Health Care. He was born March 3, 1939 in Revere, WV., a son of the late Earl A. and Jessie R. Black Church.
He was a 1957 graduate of Parkersburg High School and went on to serve our country honorably in the U.S. Marine Reserves. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 34 years, serving as post master of Mineral Wells Post Office for 20 years. He is a member of the Masonic Lodge, was a Shriner, a Kentucky Col., and a member of the South Parkersburg Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, doing yard work, gardening, reading, and spending time with his dog, Samantha.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Linda Church of 60 years; his two sons, Greg Church (Robin) of Parkersburg and Michael Church (Kristin) of Cynthiana, KY.; grandchildren, Andrew Church (Mariah), Allison Frances (Tyler), Julia Church, Bracie Church, and Brayleigh Church; great-grandchildren, Jackson Piggott, Josephine Piggott, Lyndon Church, and Lukas Church; a sister-in-law, Cherrie Cowan (Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Garold Church and a brother-in-law, David Fought.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 30, 2025 at Lambert Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St. South Parkersburg, with Pastor Adam Paff officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Sunday June 29 at the funeral home.
