Gerald "Jerry" Dahl, age 86, of
Felton, MN, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the love of his family.
Gerald Wayne Dahl was born September 1, 1939, to Anton and Ella Dahl in
Ada, MN, during thrashing season. He grew up helping on the family farm and graduated from Borup High School with the class of 1958. After graduation, Jerry worked for a neighbor for a year before enlisting into the United States Army in 1959. He proudly served his country from 1959 to 1960 while stationed in Germany. During this time, both of his parents died within a week of each other and following their deaths, he returned to Colorado to finish his term. Jerry was honorably discharged in 1965.
After returning home to northern Minnesota, Jerry worked various jobs until 1961, when he started full-time at the Felton Telephone Company.
Jerry came to know to Lord as his personal Savior through a life changing visit with Pastor Alexander Thompson at the Jevnaker church. Kneeling at the alter with tears flowing, he realized that he was a sinner and Jesus died on the cross for him. The chorus, "It is enough that Jesus died and that He died for me" became so special to him.
In 1962, he met the love of his life, Jewel Fossaa, at Triumph Lutheran Brethren Church in
Moorhead, MN, after being introduced by his cousin, Marjorie (Dahl) Nelson. The couple was united in marriage on August 31, 1963. They made their first home in a small house two miles south of Borup before building their new home in 1970. Over the years, Jerry and Jewel were blessed with six children: Arthur, Joan, Steven, Sonja, Nathan, and Wesley.
Jerry worked at Felton Telephone for seven years before going into partnership with Earl Hillstead in 1969. He later earned his master electrician's license and, in 1994, started Jerry's Electric. Jerry never truly "retired" and was proud to keep his license active throughout his life.
Jerry enjoyed fishing and woodworking and cherished spending time with his family. He also loved traveling, both across the United States and abroad. Some of his favorite destinations included Germany, Norway, Alaska, Lake of the Woods, and even a simple trip uptown to the Felton cafe. Jerry valued his community, whether it was sharing laughs over coffee with neighbors, spending time at the Ulen Senior Center, or pulling turkeys off the spit at the Ulen Turkey Barbeque. He was active in Jevnaker Lutheran Church and was involved with the White Earth Indian Mission.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jewel Dahl; children: Arthur (Valerie) Dahl of Winona, MN, Joan (Earl) Korhonen of Plymouth, MN, Steven (JoyAnn) Dahl of Plummer, MN; Sonja Dahl of Fargo, ND, Nathan Dahl of
Felton, MN, and Wesley (Sherri) Dahl of Glyndon, MN; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Ella; and his 6 siblings: David, Dorothy Mae, Allen, Luverne, Leland, and Elaine.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 11:00am, with visitation beginning at 9:00am, at the Maranatha Free Church in Ulen. Interment will be held at the Beauty Valley Cemetery in Tioga, ND at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jerry's honor to the Maranatha Free Church in Ulen or Elbow Lake Chapel at Tulaby Lake, MN.
