Joan Bolton Bynum

The year was 1968. My brother Billy Bolton was a US Marine. Gerald Dumas was in the army. Vietnam was a very active war at that time. Billy was killed in January that year. As a family we could request an escort for him to come home. There was no choice other than Gerald. Billy and Gerald had been very good friends in high school. They played football together. They had "hung out". They went to church together. So of course, it was only natural for our family to choose Gerald to bring Billy home. When Billy´s body arrived in California, Gerald took over and escorted him home. I know that it was not an easy task for him to do this, but he´s so graciously did it. And for the that, he was always so highly thought of among all of Billy´s family. He is a man to be very proud of, and I know he will be missed greatly.
