Gerald “Jerry” Michael Edwards was born on July 17, 1945 to Vincent and Elsie (Hagedorn) Edwards in Milroy, MN. He grew up in Milroy, MN and graduated from Milroy High School on May 29, 1964. Upon graduation he entered into the United States Air Force and was stationed in Grand Forks, ND. After being discharged from the Air Force he spent some time in the VA hospital until eventually returning home to Milroy, MN. Shortly after returning home he met and fell in love with Susan Metz. The couple was married on August 28, 1971 at Holy Redeemer Church in Marshall, MN. Following their wedding the couple lived in Marshall, MN for a short time before making their forever home in Milroy, MN.
Jerry and Susan lived a wonderful life together. The couple loved to travel and take camping trips. Susan was the light of Jerry’s world. To show Susan how important she was to him Jerry would have supper ready when she came home from work. Gerald was an avid sports fan and took every opportunity he had to play cribbage and pool. He also had a passion for Minnesota sports teams particularly the Twins, Vikings and Gophers. Jerry’s sarcasm and wit will be missed everyday.
Gerald passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 8, 2023 surrounded by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Susan Edwards; brother Roy (Helen) Edwards; siblings-in-law John (Nelda) Metz, Daniel Metz, Robin Metz; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
