Gerald Frederick, 86, of Battle Lake, died Friday, March 13, 2026, after a brief illness.
Gerald Arthur Frederick was born April 7, 1939 to August and Lorraine (Hult) Frederick in Perham. He grew up in rural Underwood, graduating from Underwood High School in 1957.
On October 6, 1962, Gerald married Karen Swendsrud in Dalton, MN. The couple was married for 63 years.
Gerald was an accountant for the Otter Tail County Highway Department, retiring in 2003.
Gerald enjoyed farming, which he shared with four generations, starting with his dad and now includes Gerald's son and grandson. He enjoyed bowling and golfing. Fishing and hunting were his forever sports, which he was able to do long-term. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers, James and David Frederick; parents-in-law, Clifford and Bessie Swendsrud, and brother-in-law, Charles Swendsrud.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Karen of Battle Lake; children, Ellen Stalboerger and Philip (Brenda) Frederick; five grandchildren, Paige (Nathan) Carlson, Morgan (Nate) Gesme; Brock Stalboerger, Jordan Frederick, and Drew Stalboerger; four great-grandchildren, Isla, Henry, Oslo, and Katherine; two sisters, Judy (Richard) Olson and Sharon (Jim) Schleicher.
Gerald's immediate family will gather together at the farm to celebrate his memory.
