Gerald D. "Gaz" Gazaway

Gerald D. "Gaz" "Jerry" Gazaway, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025, in Newnan, Georgia. He was 83 years old, born on December 8, 1941, in Atlanta, Georgia. Gerald lived a life devoted to his family, friends, and the simple joys he cherished. In his younger years, he was an outstanding baseball player and later a dedicated coach for many years. He enjoyed hunting and spending time outdoors, and in retirement he became an avid golfer and a skilled craftsman who could build just about anything.

Jerry was the cherished son of the late W.H. and Nettie Gazaway. He spent his entire career with Georgia Power/Southern Company, retiring early after 38 years of service. He rose through the ranks with hard work and determination-starting as a "grunt" then serving as a lineman, foreman, training foreman, trouble, and eventually moving into corporate leadership before his retirement.

Gerald, "Gaz," is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Frances "Fran" Gazaway; his children, Scott Gazaway and Suzanne Gazaway Pauley (Michael); and his grandchildren, David Pauley (Elise), Alie Gazaway Creel (Chris), and Emily Pauley. He was also the proud great-grandfather of Carsynn Creel and Ella Catherine Pauley. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews who remember him fondly.

A memorial service to honor Gerald's life will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 3:30 PM in the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to the service to pay their respects and share memories of a man whose presence will be deeply missed.
