Gerald W. "Jerry" Hatton, 84, of Midway, passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 in Jefferson Hospital.
Jerry was born on April 5, 1941 in Midway, the eldest son of the late Woodrow and Mary E. Argenta Hatton.
Jerry served in the Air National Gaurd and army National Gaurd and was honorably discharged from both. Jerry was a retired branch manager for Integra Bank, the McDonald branch. After retiring from the bank, Jerry spent some time as a delivery driver for AWT printing company. Being born and raised in Midway. Jerry was a very active member of the community. He was a lifetime member of the Midway Vol. Fire Department, charter member of the Midway Lions Club, and involved in the Fort Cherry Boosters Club (formerly Quarterback Club). Jerry was also a faithful parishioner of St. Alphonsus Church in McDonald, where he sat on the budget committee and sang in the choir for many years.
Jerry was a wealth of knowledge. He constantly had his nose in a book and loved learning something new with every read. Jerry read not only for entertainment but for his own knowledge. He loved filling his brain with everything he possibly could, especially world history. Jerry's love for travel sent him and his wife to every State in the continental U.S., where they visited every state capital along the way. His extensive knowledge came in handy in just about every situation and was always willing to help everyone. He loved lending a hand to his friends and family. His giving heart was the quality that his family loved so much about him. Jerry was the most devoted husband, father and pap. He lived for his family and cherished every second spent with them. He loved his grandchildren and was an active part of their lives. Whether that meant heading to an amusement park and riding roller coasters, attending sporting events or attending school activities, Jerry was always there.
Surviving is his loving wife of 59 and ½ years, Carolyn Secreet Hatton; children, Gerald Hatton Jr., Deborah (Edward) Eiter, Jr. and Christopher Hatton; grandchildren, Richard Hatton, Franklyn Hatton, Edward Eiter III and Thomas Eiter and brothers; Jim (Emma Jean) Hatton and Thomas (Barb) Hatton.
Friends and family will be received on Sunday, November 23, 2025 from Noon – 4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc., 314 W. Lincoln Ave., McDonald (724-926-2800). A Fireman's Service will be held on Sunday at 7 p.m., conducted by the Midway Vol. Fire Department. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, at 10 a.m. at St. Isidore the Farmer Parish – St. Alphonsus Church, McDonald. Interment will follow at Center Cemetery.
