Gerald Lloyd Hohwieler, age 85, of Chester, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Bethel Lutheran Home in Madison. Funeral Service will be 10:30 AM, Monday, December 16, 2024, at Our Savior Lutheran Church. Visitation will be 5-7 on Sunday at Ellsworth Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Jerry was born on January 4, 1939, to Henry and Leona (Onken) Hohwieler. He grew up with his two brothers Eldon and Rollie. After graduating from Chester High School. Jerry married Karen Lessman on May 28, 1960. Jerry spent his entire life in the Chester area and the last few years in Madison with an amazing community of friends at Bethel. Jerry was a farmer and raised Purebred Duroc hogs for many years. He also worked for Lake County Highway Department in Madison. Jerry's hobbies included playing cards (his favorite card game being Pitch), and spending time with his family, especially watching whatever activities his grandchildren were in.
He is survived by his wife of over 64 years, Karen; son Chad (Suzette) of Sioux Falls, daughter, Tonya (Tim) Tomasek of Marshall, MN, and grandchildren Jesse (Aaron) Lonneman of Luverne, MN, Bailey (Derek) Long of Marshall, MN, and Logan Tomasek of Maple Grove, MN, and two great grandchildren Rowan and Sutton Lonneman. Preceding him in death were his parents and his grandson, Aaron, who we are sure was the first to greet him in heaven.
