Ava, Missouri

Gerald Dee Hollis, 88 years, 2 months, 23 days old, passed away on October 28, 2025, at his home.

Gerald was born August 5, 1937, in Muleshoe, TX to J.N. "Shorty" and Eula (Teague) Hollis.

He graduated from Plainview High School in Plainview, TX. Then Gerald enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1958. He served his country for four years.

Gerald returned to Plainview after his service and went right to work. He had various jobs. Mostly he worked on the farm in Texas. He moved to Ava, MO in 1962 with his parents. He helped care for them until their passing.

He had worked at other various jobs. The most recent was working as a Custodian for the Douglas County Courthouse in Ava.

Gerald was raised in church and was saved at an early age. He was a member of Southward Baptist Church in Plainview, TX. He had currently been attending locally the Destination Church until his health failed.

Gerald loved going to ballgames with his brother, Tommie. He also enjoyed doing puzzles, pitching horseshoes, and playing or watching any kind of sports.

He was a loving uncle and brother. He will be greatly missed.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; infant son; three brothers, Tommie, and two infant brothers.

Gerald is survived by two brothers, Richard and Donnie Hollis; his special niece, Crystal Hollis; several other nieces; nephews; extended family and friends.

Memorial graveside service will be Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at the Hall Cemetery, on T Hwy. Officiating will be Pastor James Hathcock. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home Ava, Missouri. Memorials may be made to the Hall Cemetery.
