Gerald “Jerry” Williams Vandever Jr., 59, of Indianapolis passed away on May 9, 2024. He was born on February 5, 1965, in Indianapolis, Indiana to his parents Gerald Sr. and Gloria Vandever. Jerry attended Warren High School. He was a skilled mechanic and had an eye for design. He was an avid Harley rider and a proud Jeep owner. He spent countless hours in his backyard “oasis” that he designed and landscaped himself. He was blessed with a green thumb and rose to ranks of a master gardener. Jerry had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone he loved. He was a proud dad and papaw. He loved his family dearly—especially his fur baby, Kash.
It was simple—to know Jerry was to love him. You may remember him as the life of the party. He forged his own path through life and lived it to the fullest. He made many unforgettable memories and bonds along the way. He undoubtedly left this world too soon, but he will be forever remembered by all the lives he has touched.
Jerry is survived by his children, Dustin Schmollinger (Julie), Brittany Schmollinger, and Courtney Vandever and his fur baby, Kash; his siblings, Michael Vandever (Karen) and Treasa Johnson (Rick), and Karen Terry; his grandchildren, Maylee, Colton, Peyton, Kaydence, and Kamryn; the mother of his children, Kelly Schmollinger and a long-extended list of nieces, nephews, and friends whom he loved like family.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Gerald W. Vandever Sr. and Gloria Iola (Von Foerster) Vandever; and his siblings, John Adams and Tammy Vandever.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 2PM at Flanner Buchanan—Washington Park East. 10722 E. Washington St. Indianapolis, IN 46229. Visitation will be held from 11AM up until the time of the service. Jerry will take “one last ride” to One More Lounge following his services. Friends and family are encouraged and invited to join in a motorcycle procession after the service.
