Gerald Douglas "Jerry" Johnson

Gerald Douglas Johnson, age 86 of Ramsey, MN, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2022. He was born August 3, 1936 in St. Cloud, MN, the youngest of three sons born to Albert and Florence (White) Johnson of Big Lake, MN.
Jerry graduated from Big Lake High School in 1954. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for three years. He was Post Commander in 1974 for Big Lake American Legion Post 147.
Gerald married Marlene Nickerson in March of 1955. They had four children: Gary, Bruce, John and Kitty.
Jerry was employed at Hoffman Engineering in Anoka for 31 years until his retirement in 1995.
Gerald married Carol Johnson in 1998 and became a wonderful stepfather to Cindy, Shelly and Todd.
Jerry was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing, trapping and hunting. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes, cribbage, pull tabs, socializing and sharing stories.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Florence; first wife, Marlene; son, Bruce Johnson; daughter-in-law, Amy Johnson; step-daughter, Shelly Jansson; and brother, Donald (Betty) Johnson of Rochester, MN.
Gerald is survived by his loving wife, Carol Johnson of Ramsey, MN; son, Gary (Kathy) Johnson of Big Lake, MN; son, John (Barb) Johnson of Big Lake, MN; daughter, Kitty (Scott) Johnson of Elk River, MN; step-daughter, Cindy Burke of Coon Rapids, MN; step-son, Todd Johnson of Coon Rapids, MN; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Ardell) Johnson of WI; and many other family and friends.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 1:00 PM, with visitation beginning at 11:30 AM, at Peterson-Grimsmo Funeral Chapel, 250 East Broadway, Monticello, MN. A private family burial will be held at Big Lake Cemetery, Big Lake, MN.
